Katie's Cucina

Part 1 of Tour de North: NJ eats!

My husband and I decided to take a vacation out of the ordinary this year and go up north! Normally we are caribbean bound once or twice a year! Not this year, nor this winter! We stayed with my relatives who live outside of Atlantic City for half 1/2 of our trip. We made out way up to NYC for 2 nights and 3 days, followed by 3 days and 1 night in Philly! Today I will write about my food finds in NJ (the location we spent the least amount of time at)!

The first thing we did when we landed at Atlantic City International Airport was make a pit stop at the nearest wawa for a buttered kaiser roll!

On our first evening in Jersey my cousin took us to The Pier Shops At Caesars where we had a drink at Souzai sushi & saki along with a spicy tuna and cucumber roll and tempura fried sweet potatoes.
After Souzai we strolled over to The Continental where we all partaked in another alocholic beverage followed by fried calamari with cherry peppers! I had the “Cool as a Cucumber” martini which was amazing! The bartender muddled two pieces of cucumber along with a few mint leaves, shook it with vodka and strained the drink into a cold martini glass! I know that I will try to emulate this amazing martini later on in 2010! The only thing I think that would have made it better was a salted rim… since I love to eat my cucumbers with tons of salt on them!
