Instant Pot Hot Chocolate

Warm up to a large steaming hot mug of Instant Pot Hot Chocolate. Perfect for entertaining or a large family gathering on a cold day!

Instant Pot Hot Chocolate

Pour yourself a piping hot mug of Instant Pot Hot Chocolate! This recipe is perfect for a cold winters evening, or simply entertaining friends and family. For the past few years, I’ve made large batches of hot chocolate using my slow cooker. I took my slow cooker recipe, and adapted it to the Instant Pot! It definitely melts the chocolate and cooks the hot chocolate much quicker than the slow cooker version. I’ve also tweaked my recipe over the past few years and updated it to include less sugar. Don’t worry, it’s still super rich and creamy but with way less sugar.

Instant Pot Hot Chocolate In the Instant Pot

How do you make Instant Pot Hot chocolate?

Making hot chocolate in the Instant Pot is very simple. First heat the Instant Pot on the sauté setting. Next, pour in the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chip morsels, unsweetened cocoa powder, and the whole milk. Stir occasionally until everything has melted and smooth. This will take about 15 minutes.

You will want to mix periodically, so that the chocolate does not burn on the bottom and that all the ingredients to blend well together. I like to leave my Instant Pot on the “keep warm” setting when I’m entertaining friends and family. That way everyone can help themselves to as many servings of hot chocolate as they please. I won’t have to worry about the stove being on and heating my home, and I know the drink is safe in the Instant Pot .

Why make Hot Chocolate in the Instant Pot?

Yes, I realize you can easily make this on the stove top. However, the perk to making the hot chocolate in the Instant Pot is that you can keep it on a “warm” setting. This means you can set it and forget it and not have to worry about your home burning down. If you were to make hot chocolate on the stove top you would have to monitor the stove periodically.

We all know that is the last thing you want to do when your entertaining or maybe even snuggling up on the couch and watching a movie.

Is sweetened condensed milk gluten free?

For this recipe I use mostly whole ingredients; whole milk, cocoa powder, milk chocolate chips, and sweetened condensed milk. I use Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk and after doing research it is verified “glutenfree” per the established U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s criteria.

Is Hot Chocolate gluten free?

Yes, the brands I use are certified gluten free. However, always check the brands you use first. I use Nestle milk chocolate chips and Jett Puff Marshmallows. Both check out to be gluten free. As well as the Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk.

If your entertaining a group and someone has a gluten allergy or maybe just staying away from it altogether Instant Pot Hot Chocolate is a great option to serve. *Always, read labels of course!
