Tips & Tricks
Here are all my tips and tricks I’ve learned from making this cheesy green bean casserole recipe.
- Green beans – I actually prefer to use frozen green beans for this recipe. Fresh green beans will work too, just steam them prior. I’ve never made this cheesy green bean casserole recipe with canned green beans.
- Canned soup – For this recipe I use Campbell’s Golden Mushroom Soup. I have yet to be able to find a way to replicate the same flavors of the canned soup from scratch.
- Make Ahead – Make the casserole ahead of time and wait to add the French’s fried onions until you are ready to bake.
FAQs
I love this recipe because instead of using the traditional cream of mushroom soup mix you use a can of golden mushroom soup. This soup gives a completely different taste making this a fun twist. Campbell’s Condensed Golden Mushroom Soup is a flavorful combination of beef stock, tender mushrooms and savory tomato puree. Nothing creamy about this.
Best of all you can find this soup in just about any grocery store. You might have to look closely as this is not typically a soup that has rows and rows on the shelves.
Wondering if this soup is gluten free? Unfortunately, it is not. It’s always best to read the label and do a little research if you have a gluten allergy.
