Make these Honey Butter Crescent Rolls the star of your next dinner. With just four simply ingredients and within 15 minutes time you will have an irresistible side that your friends and family will be going back for seconds and thirds!
If you love Cheddars croissants you are going to love my Honey Butter Crescent Rolls. I was inspired to recreate this recipe after eating at HOPS. It was a local restaurant about 20 years ago in Central Florida. They were known for their honey butter croissants. Every Friday night after the football game my friends and I would charge into HOPS for those croissants (they were free and AMAZING) as well as a bowl of baked potato soup! I know that the waitresses and waiters hated to see us “kids” come in. If only they knew it was the highlight to our week–and brought us so many memories.
Sadly, HOPS closed down, but thankfully Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen opened and kept the honey butter croissants alive. Whenever I’m feeling nostalgic or simply want a delicious bread to go with our meaI will make my Honey Butter Crescent Rolls recipe.

Ingredients
- Crescent Rolls – I like to use Grands Crescent Rolls found in the refrigerated section.
- Butter – You can use either salted or unsalted butter for this recipe.
- Honey – I like a neutral clove honey; however, any honey will work. Just know that whatever flavor the honey is– is the flavor the crescent rolls will take on.
- Powdered Sugar – A little powdered sugar gives the honey butter that is drizzled on top the finishing touch.
Directions
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Unroll dough, separate into 8 triangles. Roll up loosely on an I greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
While crescents bake begin making honey butter. In a small sauce pan, melt salted butter. Then add the honey and powdered sugar. Mix well until incorporated (the sauce will instantly become thicker once the powdered sugar is added), remove from the heat and set to the side.
Once crescents are golden brown remove from the oven.
Using a spatula, lift underneath the crescents to ensure they didn’t stick. Then, the drizzle honey butter sauce on top and enjoy immediately.
Air Fryer Crescent Rolls
If you own an Air Fryer and would rather cook them in the handy countertop appliance you will follow all the same steps up until you are ready to put them in the Air Fryer.
Spray the Air Fryer basket with non-stick spray. Then air fry at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully remove them from the Air Fryer (if they bake together carefully cut around them using the spatula) and place them on a serving dish. Then drizzle the warm honey butter on top.
Recipe FAQs
A Crescent roll comes in a tube and is a long flat dough that you have to cut and roll. Where as a croissant roll will come frozen already shaped and all you need to do is let it sit out at room temperature to thaw and proof before baking.
When you melt the butter and mix it with honey you create a sweet honey flavored butter. You can also mix in honey to softened butter to create a honey butter you can spread on a croissant.
Tips & Tricks
- Topping – If you would like less sugar in the honey butter topping you can omit the powdered sugar. However, I feel that the powdered sugar helps thicken up and give an additional layer of sweetness to these rolls.
- Croissants – If you can find frozen croissants you can use those instead of the crescent rolls. Croissants will give you the same delicious tastes and texture that Cheddar’s has.
