Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • 12-inch Skillet
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Frozen Crinkle Cut Fries
  • 1 pinch Salt & Pepper
  • 4 oz. Cabot Sharp Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • 5 strips bacon chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions for topping

Instructions

  • Bake crinkle cut fries according to package (about 20 minutes on 400 degrees depending on brand). Salt and pepper the fries as soon as they are done baking.
  • While fries are cooking, fry bacon on the stove top. Remove the bacon strips from grease, and allow to cool on a paper towel line plate. Chop into bite-size pieces once the bacon cools.
  • Layer the cooked fries in a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, bacon, and green onions. Broil for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Toppings - The sky is the limit when it comes to topping for cheese fries. Here are a few of my favorites:
    • Meat - You can use ground beef or chili, shredded chicken, pulled pork, impossible meat crumbles, pancetta to name a few.
    • Additional Dairy - You can drizzle a little sour cream on top or even add bleu cheese, gorgonzola crumbles, or feta crumbles depending on the flavor you want the fries to have.
    • Veggies - I like to add on jalapeno for spice or even diced bell pepper, tomatoes, avocados, or minced red onion.
  • Cheese - If you don't have cheddar cheese on hand or would prefer a different type of cheese feel free to use that instead. You can use colby jack, pepper jack, even a Mexican blend cheese.
  • Individual Portions - If you don't like to have a large tray of bacon cheese fries you can make this recipe into individual portions. I like to use 7-inch round cake pans that I will line with foil, divide the fries into the pans, and add the toppings before broiling.
