Equipment

  • Measuring Spoons
  • Measuring Cups
  • Peeler
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • 9 x 11 Baking Dish
  • Oven
  • KitchenAid Stand Mixer
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Unsalted Butter
  • 3 Granny Smith Apples
  • ¼ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Apple Pie Spice
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 cups Chunky Applesauce
  • 1 cup Flour
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup 2% Milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375° Fahrenheit.
  • Once oven is preheated, melt butter in a 9- x 11-inch baking dish.
    ¼ cup Unsalted Butter
  • While butter is melting, peel and chop the apples. Place the apples in a bowl and mix in the brown sugar, apple pie spice, and lemon juice. Mix and then add in the homemade chunky applesauce. Mix again and set to the side.
3 Granny Smith Apples, ¼ cup Brown Sugar, 1 tablespoon Apple Pie Spice, 1 tablespoon Lemon juice, 2 cups Chunky Applesauce
  • Using a stand mixer, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Then, add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
1 cup Flour, ½ cup Granulated Sugar, 1 tablespoon Baking Powder, ¼ teaspoon Salt, 1 cup 2% Milk
  • Remove the baking dish from the oven. Pour batter over hot butter pan (do not stir). Then pour apple mixture over batter (do not stir).
  • Bake at 375° Fahrenheit for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Leave some texture in your applesauce - Chunky applesauce adds bite and keeps the cobbler from feeling too soft.
  • Don’t overmix the batter - Stir until just combined to keep the topping light and fluffy.
  • Add crunch - Sprinkle a little coarse raw sugar or chopped pecans on top before baking for extra texture.
  • Toppings - Add a pinch of nutmeg or drizzle of caramel sauce before serving for a cozy twist.
