Banana Birthday Cake Smoothie

My birthday was last week. Once you become a parent gone are the days of “birthday weekends” or even “week’ for the most part. Now I’m lucky to celebrate just a mere 24 hours. Since last year I was 1 week post partum, deprived of sleep, and caring for a brand new adorable baby boy I tried my hardest to really enjoy my birthday and take a little time for myself. First up, I started my birthday off with this Banana Birthday Cake Smoothie. It’s like the best of both worlds… think part smoothie part milkshake oh and a piece of cake! What’s not to love about it?

I love birthday cake milkshakes but didn’t feel that a milkshake was really appropriate for breakfast although I will admit I did think twice about it. Instead I grabbed my favorite Stonyfield Plain Greek Yogurt, a banana, a few scoops of store-bought cake mix, and a scoop of flaxseed meal. I blended it all together and then topped it with just a few sprinkles to make it feel even more like a birthday cake. I don’t know about you, but I love a cake with sprinkles on it. Something fun about it.

My friends at Hamilton Beech sent me a Hamilton Beach® Single-Serve Blender to give a whirl. I love the single-serving travel cup. You simply blend and go, and it fits most car cup holders! A win-win in my book. Cleanup couldn’t be simpler — place the cup or blending jar right in the dishwasher. I’m all about convienience these days and the less time I have to spend cleaning up the better.
