CBD Blueberry Lemon Smoothie

I haven’t shared a smoothie recipe in a long time. Yet, it’s something I make multiple times a week at home. If you are looking for ways to incorporate more CBD into your daily diet this is one of my favorite ways to do so. In a smoothie! I take a CBD capsule along with my vitamins just about every morning to help ease my anxiety. Some mornings though, instead of my capsule I make myself a CBD Blueberry Lemon Smoothie.

I love Barleans Seriously Delicious CBD Lemon Drop. It contains 5.3g of CBD in a single serving. Making it the perfect dosage for any smoothie. This mama needs a chill pill and this smoothie does the ticket! I love the Seriously Delicious line because it’s emulsified for superior absorption! Meaning you don’t need a large dose of CBD.

What is CBD?

Thanks to Barleans they explain all about CBD!

“CBD stands for cannabidiol and is one of over 100 known phytocannabinoids that naturally occur in cannabis plants. It’s also one of the most prolific cannabinoids found in hemp plants. CBD has very low THC – 0.3% or less – which is why CBD doesn’t make people feel high. In fact, CBD can actually counteract the euphoric/high feeling caused by THC. CBD continues to gain popularity as studies reveal its potential benefits for human health.”

I can tell you first hand that CBD does not make you feel high. Hemp contains a negligible amount of THC, but is higher in CBD. The higher levels of THC, the psychoactive compound is what gets you high. A hemp plant that is grown for CBD typically has less then .3% THC and about 20% CBD.

What does CBD do in the body?

For me, CBD makes me just feel mellow. It takes the edge off which I definitely need help with on a daily basis. According to Barleans:

“CBD works within your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS helps to regulate a variety of processes like eating, sleeping, relaxation, recovery and cognition. It’s like your body’s operating system. CBD acts upon receptors in the ECS as well as limiting the breakdown of anandamide (often called the bliss molecule). In doing so, CBD can help your ECS function at its best.”

Ingredients

  • Blueberries – I use frozen so I don’t have to use ice cubes!
  • Yogurt – Plain or vanilla work fine. Even blueberry flavored yogurt. Just know that if you use Greek yogurt you may have more of a tang.
  • Lemon Juice – You can freshly squeeze or use a concentrate.
  • Barleans Seriously Delicious CBD Lemon Drop – this is the exact CBD I use for this smoothie recipe.
  • Honey – I like to use Blueberry flavored honey but any honey will do.

Directions

Place the frozen blueberries in a high power blender as well as the vanilla yogurt, Barleans Seriously Delicious CBD Lemon Drop, lemon juice and the blueberry honey.

Blend on “smoothie” setting for 45 seconds or until pureed.

Pour into a cup and enjoy immediately.
