I can’t believe it’s June! June for us is all about beach and pool days with a little bit of traveling. What better way to kick off this month then partnering with one of my favorite beer brands, Corona Extra®, to bring you one of our go-to summer time drinks. The CoronaRita®. We love making these when we entertain our friends and family. It’s the best of both worlds–beer and margarita in one! Plus, let’s face it–it’s pretty cool and attractive looking!

Some might be perplexed as to why I would want to pair a margarita with beer!?! Corona has fruity-honey aromas and a touch of malt, making it the perfect companion to pair with a fruity margarita. The flavor of the cerveza (that’s beer in Spanish for those who don’t know what that word means) is crisp, clean and well-balanced between hops and malt, a superior taste profile from superior ingredients—the finest-quality blend of filtered water, malted barley, hops, corn and yeast. Check out the store locator as to where you can find Corona Extra.

To make the CoronaRita you’ll want a large pint glass or an extra large margarita glass that can hold an upside down Corona bottle! I like to salt the rim of my glass and then carefully add in ice cubes. I don’t use a shaker, I just pour everything into the same cup and stir–let’s get real I don’t want extra dishes! I use a little margarita mix. If you don’t have any on hand you can use freshly squeezed lime paired with a little simple syrup if you like your margaritas a little sweeter. Then pour in the tequila and triple sec. Mix well with a stirrer. You’ll notice the cup will be half-full. That’s because the other half of the glass will soon be filled with Corona Extra. Next, open a Corona Extra with a bottle opener and place it inside the glass. Once it’s open you’ll move very quickly being careful to not drop in the bottom of the glass. As long as your glass is half-full you shouldn’t have any over-flows. Once your Corona Extra is in the glass it’s time to enjoy! You’ll repeat this process with however many CoronaRitas® you’ll need.

As you can tell with my recipe for a CoronaRita® — Corona Extra is the beer that is your passport to carefree enjoyment because Corona Extra is the ultimate in emotional and physical refreshment. You don’t have to be on vacation to enjoy Corona Extra. Corona in our house is an everyday special moments drink (mostly spent pool side) which is why we like to host with Corona Extras and CoronaRitas®. Whether you’re hosting a gathering or looking for a fun day by the pool, try my recipe for CoronaRita®.

  • 1 lime Wedge
  • Salt for Rim
  • 2 oz. Margarita Mix
  • 1 oz. Casa Noble Tequila
  • ½ oz. 15ml Triple Sec
  • 12 oz. 210ml Corona Extra®

Instructions

  • Using the lime, run it around the rim of the glass. Then dip the rim of the glass into coarse salt.
  • Carefully add ice to the glass. Pour the margarita mix, tequila, and triple sec into the glass. Mix well with a stirrer. Your glass will be half full. Carefully, turn the Corona Extra upside down in the glass. Beer will begin to pour out and will eventually stop flowing out. Garnish with the lime and enjoy immediately.
