Why this Recipe Works

  1. Irresistible Flavor: Strawberry Mojitos offer a tantalizing combination of sweet, tangy, and minty flavors. The natural sweetness of ripe strawberries pairs perfectly with the zesty kick of lime juice and the refreshing mint leaves. The result is a harmonious blend that’s as delicious as it is refreshing, making it a delightful treat for your taste buds.
  2. Versatile All-Year-Round: Unlike some cocktails that are reserved for specific seasons, Strawberry Mojitos are versatile and can be enjoyed year-round. Whether it’s a hot summer day, a cozy winter evening by the fireplace, or any time in between, these mojitos provide a burst of fruity freshness that’s perfect for any occasion.
  3. Customizable and Adaptable: Strawberry Mojitos are highly customizable to suit your preferences. You can adjust the level of sweetness, tartness, and even the alcohol content to make them just right for you. Plus, you can easily make non-alcoholic versions for guests who prefer a booze-free option, making it a crowd-pleaser at gatherings and parties.

Strawberry Mojito Ingredients

Ingredients on marble countertop: bacardi limon, club soda, strawberry simple syrup, strawberries, and mint.
  • Rum – Pick the highest quality rum and one that you like to drink. I prefer Bacardi, but the options are limitless.
  • Club Soda – This will be a base to give the mojito a little bubbly.
  • SImple Syrup – I like to use my homemade strawberry simple syrup. You can also use mint simple syrup or even traditional simple syrup.
  • Mint – Fresh mint is key to this recipe. You cannot make the recipe without it. We always make mojitos when we have an abundance of mint in our garden. It’s the best way to use it up.
  • Strawberries – Fresh strawberries are ideal for this recipe; however, you can use frozen if in a pinch and not in season.

FAQs

Two glasses filled with a pink drink and mint and strawberry as garnish with a mason jar filled with a pink liquid.

Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions when making a strawberry mojito!

What’s in a Strawberry Mojito?

A classic Strawberry Mojito comprises fresh strawberries, mint leaves, lime juice, simple syrup (or sugar), white rum, and soda water. It’s a refreshing blend of fruity, citrusy, and herbal notes that make it irresistible.

Can I make a non-alcoholic version?

Absolutely! To make a non-alcoholic Strawberry Mojito (sometimes called a Virgin Strawberry Mojito), simply skip the rum and add a bit more soda water. You’ll still get all the wonderful flavors without the alcohol kick.

Can I use frozen strawberries?

While fresh strawberries are preferred for their vibrant flavor, you can use frozen strawberries if fresh ones are unavailable. Just make sure to thaw them slightly before muddling to release their juices.

Is it necessary to use a muddler?

A muddler is highly recommended to gently crush the strawberries and mint leaves, releasing their essential oils and flavors. If you don’t have a muddler, the back of a spoon can work in a pinch.

What type of rum is best for Strawberry Mojitos?

Light or white rum is the go-to choice for Strawberry Mojitos. Its clean, neutral flavor allows the fruit and mint to shine. Brands like Bacardi and Havana Club work beautifully.

Tips and Tricks

2 glasses filled with mint and strawberry with garnish.

Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks when making a strawberry mojito.

  • Freshness is Key – Always use fresh strawberries and mint leaves for the best flavor. Bruised or wilted herbs won’t give you the aromatic punch you desire.
  • Adjust the Sweetness – Tailor the sweetness to your taste. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add a touch more simple syrup. For a tangier twist, increase the lime juice.
  • Crush Gently – When muddling the strawberries and mint, be gentle. Over-muddling can release bitter compounds from the mint leaves.
  • The Ice Matters – Use crushed ice for a quicker chill and more surface area for flavor infusion. It also makes your drink look stunning.
  • Garnish with Flair – A sprig of fresh mint and a strawberry slice make for a visually appealing garnish. Serve your Strawberry Mojito in a tall glass with a colorful straw for that extra “wow” factor.
