I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day! I spent the last few days unplugged (as much as possible) and spending much needed time with my husband and friends! It’s always nice to step back and enjoy life a little bit. Something I’ve been doing less and less as Katie’s Cucina continues to grow. I’m excited to share that a close friend of mine is starting a virtual assistant business and I’ve hired her on to help me with both Katie’s Cucina and Sew Woodsy. She starts this week and I could not be any happier with my decision! Having a virtual assistant is going to help me focus on the things I really want to do… cook and create!
So, let’s talk about this divine grilled side dish: Grilled Parmesan and Pepper Asparagus! Last week, I shared with you a recipe for my Roasted Mango Chipotle Grilled Shrimp Skewers. When I made that meal, I knew I wanted to have a vegetable side dish that was cooked on the grill. I had asparagus on hand and knew that I would do something with it. As it starts to get hotter and hotter here in Florida I knew I didn’t want to even think about turning my stove on. So I added my heavily seasoned salt and pepper asparagus on the grill. Most vegetables when grilled take little to no time to cook! It is a win-win in my book! Once the asparagus was done cooking I removed it from the grill right on to the serving dish and sprinkled it with grated parmesan.
If you love spicy food you’ll love this asparagus side dish. The black pepper gives this asparagus a big kick, and if you don’t like spicy then don’t add as much black pepper to the dish. Whether you are grilling just for your family or for a special occasion I hope you’ll give my grilled parmesan and pepper asparagus a try this grilling season!
Katie Original Recipe

Grilled Parmesan and Pepper Asparagus
Ingredients
- 1 lb. asparagus ends trimmed off
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced
- 2 tablespoon shredded parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a gallon-size zip top bag add trimmed asparagus, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and minced garlic. Seal the bag and toss the asparagus with all the ingredients inside the bag.
- Heat the grill on high-heat. Clean and then reduce the heat to low (temperature of grill should read between 300-400 degrees Fahrenheit). Carefully, place the asparagus on the grill for 10 minutes. Turn once during the cooking process. Remove, and sprinkle with two tablespoons shredded parmesan cheese.
