Why This Recipe Works

Green beans are cooked perfectly in minutes with a crispy outside and soft inside.

Seasoning options are endless.

Green beans in the Air Fryer are a basic recipe anyone can make!

Ingredients

Ingredients on counter; green beans, garlic, olive oil, house seasoning.
  • Green Beans – To save time you can purchase green beans that have already been trimmed and washed. Or take the extra few minutes to trim them yourself.
  • Seasoning – I like to use my house seasoning which is a blend of salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Garlic – I use 6 large whole garlic cloves that cook with the green beans.
  • Oil – I use olive oil but you can use canola, grapeseed, or even avocado oil.

Directions

Preheat – Preheat the Air Fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Toss – While Air Fryer heats, toss the green beans with the olive oil, hour seasoning, and garlic cloves. Mix well.

Air Fry – Spray the Air Fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray. Place the green beans and garlic cloves in the air fryer. Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 minutes. Mixing and turning the green beans half way through.

Serve – Once the green beans are done cooking, divided evenly among plates and enjoy.

FAQs

Here are all the frequently asked questions readers have asked when making Air Fried Green Beans.

Do you have to preheat an air fryer?

I like to always preheat my air fryer before cooking. Some air fryers have a preheat mode built in where others don’t. Read your manual before cooking. If your air fryer does not have the preheat mode built in to the cooking time I suggest you preheat for 5 minutes prior to throwing the food in the basket.

Where do you put the oil in an air fryer?

You just need to spray your food with oil prior to air frying. No need to actually pour oil into the air fryer.

Can I use olive oil spray in my air fryer?

Yes, you can; however, know that Olive Oil has a low smoke point so you will need to keep cooking under 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

How do you cook green beans in an air fryer?

Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Toss the green beans with oil and seasoning. Place in the air fryer and cook for 7 minutes, tossing once to ensure all sides get crispy. Serve immediately.

How many calories in green beans?

One cup of cooked green beans is about 30 calories.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks I’ve learned when making air fry green beans.

  • Seasoning – You can use just salt and pepper on the green beans if you prefer to not use my house seasoning.
  • Quantity – I wouldn’t cook more then 1 pound of green beans at a time as the basket will become over crowded and they will not cook evenly.
  • Garlic – I like the additional flavor the garlic cloves give to the green beans while they cook. You can enjoy them with the green beans or discard them–completely up to you.
