My kid’s love M&M cookie bars. I’m finally starting to share my holiday recipes for them. This is something I’ve been making for years, yet I’ve never shared on the blog. I’m happy to finally share this recipe for Halloween M&M Cookie Bars. Thick, ooey-gooey and oh-so chewy cookie bars that will have everyone going back for seconds and thirds!

I love a good warm choocolate chip cookie. I love them in the cookie form, but also enjoy making M&M cookie bars and cookie skillets, as well. Whenever I’m asked to bring a dessert I almost always bring a cookie bar. For Halloween (and most holidays) I love adding in a specific color of M&M plus sprinkles! They bake perfectly into the bar and melt into your mouth.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Place the room temperature  butter in the KitchenAid Stand Mixer. Then pour in the granulated and brown sugar. Cream on low for 1 minute until incorporated. Then, slowly add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix on medium for 1 minute.
  3. Turn off the mixer. Add in the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix on low and then gradually increase speed to medium for 1 minute. Reduce the speed to low and add in 1-½ cups M&M’s and sprinkles. Mix until just incorporated.
  4. Spray a 9×13 glass pan with cooking spray. Using a silicone spatula, scrape the cookie dough contents into the glass pan. Smooth out until even. Add the remaining ½ cup M&M’s to the top of the pan.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden in color. Remove from the oven and let rest for 30 minutes before cutting. Store in an air tight container for up to 5 days.

I love that you like using different colored M&Ms for different holiday baking – I do the same with candy corns! Did you know they make them in Christmas colors, Valentine’s and Easter, too?? I have so much fun coming up with desserts to use them in. And M&Ms are great that way, too – these cookie bars look great!

Yes! I buy the large containers for each holiday! I actually still have some patriotic red, white, and blue M&M’s in my pantry from the summer!

We love cookie bars! It’s so much easier to bake an entire pan of cookies instead of baking sheet after sheet. YUM!
