One Pot Supreme Pizza Pasta Skillet is the perfect mix of loaded pizza and the flavors of a delicious hearty pasta dinner.
I’m always looking for a family-friendly quick dinner option. My kids love pizza and they love pasta. What can I say, my Italian genes definitely passed on to them. Luckily, they aren’t too picky and love sauce. That’s when I decided to combine all the flavors we love in a delicious one pot pasta meal. Thanks to my recipe for One Pot Supreme Pizza Pasta Skillet I think you’ll have a new family favorite recipe.
I haven’t made a new one pot meal in a long time. I’ve been pretty obsessed with my Instant Pot if you didn’t catch on to that. I love one pot pasta meals, because they are typically easy to cook. Plus one pot so that means very few dishes you need to clean.
How do you make One Pot Supreme Pizza Pasta Skillet?
In a large skillet, heat on medium-high and begin breaking the ground Italian sausage into bite-size pieces. Cook until golden for 3-4 minutes. Push the sausage to the sides of the pot. In the middle of the pot, add in the uncured pepperoni, diced onion, garlic, and red bell pepper. Saute for 2 minutes, then add in the blended mushrooms. Mix well.
Next, add in the rotini pasta. Mix well, then pour in half the water, followed by all the pasta sauce. Use the remaining water and add to the pasta jar, close lid and shake. Then pour into the skillet. Mix well, then reduce heat to medium, and place a lid on the skillet. Cook for 15 minutes or until pasta is cooked to al dente. Stir periodically.
Once the pasta is done, turn the heat off, top with the fresh mozzarella cheese and place the lid back on for a few minutes until melted. *If your pan can handle the heat stick it under the broiler for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and golden in color.
This pasta recipe has a lot of vegetables in it. I find if I can hide the veggies into the meal my kids 1. won’t know and 2. they get some extra veggies in them. I had a sample of Italian-style “blended” mushrooms that I used for this recipe. The flavor of the mushrooms is mild in taste and no one ever knew there were any mushrooms in the dish. I’m not a fan of sliced mushrooms (it’s a texture thing), but I do really like the blended mushrooms.
In fact, my 4-year old was quick to pick out the bell peppers in the dish! Of course, if you don’t have blended mushrooms you can add chopped mushrooms to your dish. Just know, it will change the texture and taste of the pasta dish. Giving it more of a “mushroom” pizza taste!
