If you love a juicy hot dog you are going to love these Air Fryer Hot Dogs. If you love a crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside hot dog this recipe is for you. Whether you don’t feel like firing up the grill or maybe it’s simply too cold out to do so or you don’t want a boiled or pan fried hot dog. This Air Fryer version is perfect and only takes 10 minutes from start to finish.

My family also prefers a toasted hot dog bun, so I’ve incorporated that in the recipe. The hot dogs will continue to cook while the bun gets perfectly toasted. It’s a win-win and makes for an easy lunch or dinner. I love to serve the hot dogs with french fries or homemade potato chips.

Why this Recipe Works

Quick and Convenient – Cooking hot dogs in the air fryer is a quick and easy way to prepare a delicious snack or meal. It takes just a few minutes to cook, and you don’t need to preheat the oven or boil water like you would when cooking hot dogs on the stove. Plus, the air fryer can cook multiple hot dogs at once, making it a great option for feeding a group of people.

Healthier Option – Cooking hot dogs in the air fryer can be a healthier option compared to traditional methods like frying or grilling. Since the air fryer uses hot air to cook the food, it can reduce the amount of oil needed, resulting in a lower fat content. Additionally, the hot dogs will be cooked evenly and thoroughly, ensuring that they are safe to eat.

Versatile – The air fryer can be used to cook a wide variety of foods, and hot dogs are no exception. You can experiment with different toppings and seasonings to create your own unique hot dog creations. Plus, the air fryer can be used to cook other foods like french fries, chicken wings, and vegetables, making it a versatile kitchen appliance.

FAQs

Three hot dogs on a white platter.

Here are all the frequently asked questions readers have asked when making this recipe.

Do hot dogs taste good in air fryer?

Yes, my family absolutely loves hot dogs in the air fryer. It’s a great alternative when you can’t grill and don’t want to boil or pan fried. Crispy on the outside but soft in the inside.

What temperature do you set air fryer for hot dogs?

I have found that cooking the hot dogs at 400 degrees Fahrenheit is best.

How long does it take to cook hotdogs in an Airfryer?

It only takes 5 minutes to cook hot dogs in the Air Fryer. If you want to toast the bun then add an additional 2 minutes to the cooking time.

How long should you preheat an air fryer?

I have an Instant Brand air fryer and it automatically preheats when I set the time and temperature. However, other air fryers might not have this built in technology. I suggest you let it preheat for 5 minutes before placing food in if it doesn’t automatically have the preheat setting built in. Always reference your manual before cooking.

Tips & Tricks

Three hot dogs on a white platter with various toppings and a side of fries

Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks I’ve learned when making this recipe.

  • Oil – You do not need to add oil to the hot dogs.
  • Slits – No need to slit the hot dogs. Unlike sausage, the oils will not burst out of the hot dogs like an Italian sausage.
  • Toppings – You can add all sorts of toppings to your hot dogs. Stick with classics like ketchup, mustard, and relish. Or get creative and add chili, cheese, coleslaw, even pickled jalapenos.
