Ingredients

Antipasto Skewers Ingredients

The sky is the limit when it comes to toppings for Antipasto Kabobs. Here are just some of my favorites.

  • Meat – I love to use peppered salame, but any meats will do. Think prosciutto, pepperoni, ham, and salame. Really any Italian cured meats.
  • Tomatoes – Mini grape tomaotoes give a great flavor burst.
  • Olives – Any style olive is great. For this recipe I use a cheese stuffed olive. The main thing to make sure is that the pit is removed for skewering.
  • Cheese – I like to use fresh mini mozzarella balls or even thick cut squares of feta, cheddar, or havarti.
  • Artichoke Hearts – One jar of marinated artichoke hearts gives additional flavor.
  • Peppers – I love to use my roasted bell peppers and pepperoni’s on antipasto kabobs.
  • Herbs – If I’m serving mozzarella and tomatoes together I have to have fresh basil.

Directions

Antipasto Skewers Recipe
  • Prep all of the ingredients, slice the Peppered Salame into 1-inch pieces. Pat dry the roasted bell peppers, artichoke hearts, olives, and pepperoncinis.
  • Begin to layer the skewers in whatever order you prefer. Repeat until all 12 skewers are complete. Refrigerate for a few hours or serve immediately!

FAQs

How many people do Antipasto Skewers feed?

This will all depend on how many skewers you make and whether or not you make mini skewers or large skewers. My recipe shares how to make 12 mini skewers which feeds about 4 adults.

What do you put on an antipasto platter?

A good antipasto platter has a wide-variety of ingredients on a wooden platter. Most antipasto platters will have cheeses, cured meats like prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, vegetables like artichoke hearts, olive, peppers, nuts, and bread or crackers.

Tips & Tricks

Antipasto Skewers

Anytime I make antipasto skewers or kabobs (also known as Italian appetizer kabobs) I have found these tips and tricks most helpful.

  • Salame – You can use any type of salame. I personally prefer the Columbus Peppered Salame.
  • Make Ahead – Depending on the ingredients you use– you can make these antipasto skewers up to 12 hours ahead of serving. Just make sure to wrap tightly in plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Dietary Substitutions – If you have a specific deitary need you can easily substitute ingredients.
    • Gluten Free – Make sure to check the meat that you are using to ensure it is gluten free.
    • Dairy Free – Simply add meats and vegetables that do not contain any dairy.
    • Vegetarian – Remove the meat from the skewer and place marinated tofu or just load the skewers with tons of veggies and cheeses.
