Bacon Cheese Fries are just that, frozen french fries baked until golden brown and topped with cheddar cheese, diced bacon, and green onions. These ooey-gooey cheese fries are sure to be a new fan favorite!
Bacon Cheese Fries are the ultimate comfort food and make for a delicious game day appetizer. These cheese fries are loaded with freshly grated cheddar cheese, bacon, and green onions and made in under 30 minutes from start to finish. I love to make these when I’m entertaining because they are a little more “extra” then just plain old fries.

Why This Recipe Works
Easy to make appetizer thanks to frozen fries!
You can make as little or as much as you’d like since the recipe is pretty flexible.
Keep this recipe as is or add on a wide-variety of toppings to the cheese fries!
Directions
Bake crinkle cut fries according to package (about 20 minutes on 400 degrees depending on brand). Salt and pepper the fries as soon as they are done baking.
While fries are cooking, fry bacon on the stove top. Remove the bacon strips from grease, and allow to cool on a paper towel line plate. Chop into bite-size pieces once the bacon cools.
Next, grate a block of cheddar cheese and set to the side.
Layer the cooked fries in a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, bacon, and green onions. Broil for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Enjoy immediately.
Tips & Tricks
Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks when making these bacon cheese fries.
- Toppings – The sky is the limit when it comes to topping for cheese fries. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Meat – You can use ground beef or chili, shredded chicken, pulled pork, impossible meat crumbles, pancetta to name a few.
- Additional Dairy – You can drizzle a little sour cream on top or even add bleu cheese, gorgonzola crumbles, or feta crumbles depending on the flavor you want the fries to have.
- Veggies – I like to add on jalapeno for spice or even diced bell pepper, tomatoes, avocados, or minced red onion.
- Cheese – If you don’t have cheddar cheese on hand or would prefer a different type of cheese feel free to use that instead. You can use colby jack, pepper jack, even a Mexican blend cheese.
- Individual Portions – If you don’t like to have a large tray of bacon cheese fries you can make this recipe into individual portions. I like to use 7-inch round cake pans that I will line with foil, divide the fries into the pans, and add the toppings before broiling.

Hi Stevie, Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. Most Americans love the bacon-cheddar combo. Honestly, anything bacon. I like to provide a wide variety of recipes for cooks of all level. I want readers to feel like they can make recipes regardless if it includes homemade french fries or store-bought. Either way it’s a delicious recipe.
