Enjoy the flavors of fall with my Pumpkin Spice Popcorn that is tossed with orange tinted white chocolate. This gluten free recipe is made in minutes, and balances the sweet and salty flavors throughout.

Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks. I also love the flavor of all things pumpkin spice. So it was only natural that I created a recipe for Pumpkin Spice Popcorn! The sweet flavors of white chocolate paired with the pumpkin pie spice and crunch of the buttery popcorn all compliment each other so well.

Ingredients

Ingredients on marble countertop: popcorn, white chocoalte, and pumpkin spice.
  • Popcorn – Either fresh or a bagged popcorn work for this recipe.
  • Pumpkin Spice – I love to make my own pumpkin pie spice or you can buy the mix from the store.
  • White Chocolate – I like to use an orange tinted white chocolate candy melt pictured above but any color will work! Just make sure you can easily melt the white chocolate.

Directions

Four process photos of how to make Pumpkin Spice Popcorn.
  • Place 6 cups popped popcorn on a large sheet pan. Sprinkle half the pumpkin pie spice on top of the popcorn.
  • Melt white chocolate melts in microwave per bag instructions.
  • Drizzle the melted white chocolate over popcorn. Mix with your hands. Sprinkle the remaining pumpkin pie spice on top.
  • Place the baking tray in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes so chocolate can harden.
  • Remove from the refrigerator and enjoy!

FAQs

How do you make pumpkin popcorn?

Pop popcorn according to package and/or pop fresh kernel. Mix pumpkin pie spice with butter and drizzle on top or simply sprinkle pumpkin spice on top of popcorn!

What flavor goes with pumpkin spice?

You can pair pumpkin pie spice with dairy products like cream cheese, cream (both heavy and whipped cream), milk, butter, and even vanilla ice cream. If you are looking for more savory flavors you can toss the pumpkin spice with pecans, almonds, walnuts, popcorn, rice, and oats.

Why is popcorn so bad for you?

Pre-made popcorn can be bad for you. Most pre-made popcorn (found in a microwavable bag is full of butter and excess sodium. A healthier alternative is popping your own popcorn from kernels and adding as little butter/oil/salt as possible.

Tips & Tricks

Female hand holding a bag of orange candy melts.

Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks I’ve found helpful when making this recipe.

  • Popcorn – You can use store bought popcorn or the brown bag microwave popcorn method I love to use. I prefer a drier less buttery popcorn but any popcorn will do.
  • Candy Melts– Whenever I make anything that requires melted chocolate I always lean toward the Wilton Candy Melts.
  • Sheet Pan – I like to lay the popcorn out on a sheet pan which helps evenly distribute both the pumpkin pie spice and white chocolate.
  • Mix – I always mix the white chocolate and popcorn with my hands after I’m done drizzling it on the popcorn. This is what I do when I cannot get the white chocolate to thinly drizzle over the popcorn.
  • Storage – If you happen to have leftover popcorn you can place it in a Ziploc bag and refrigerate the popcorn. I find this method keeps it staying the freshest longest. The popcorn should be good for up to about 1 week if sealed and store properly.

While growing up we did the whole stove top popcorn then added some melted butter. It was our thing to do, specially on Eastern Sunday. Now, this fun version is one I’m going to try. We love popcorn on our family movie nights. Love it, Katie!!!!
