Make this delicious Homemade Green Bean Casserole from scratch using fresh ingredients and my secret ingredient… Better Than Bouillon Mushroom Base!
I realized earlier in the holiday season that I have never shared my Homemade Green Bean Casserole recipe on the blog. I have a gluten free green bean casserole recipe, a dairy free version, and even an Instant Pot! But not a traditional skillet/oven recipe! Today, I’m excited to partner with my friends at Better Than Bouillon to share with you this homemade recipe.
What is Better Than Bouillon?
You might be wondering what Better Than Bouillon is? In case you are new to here, I partnered with them over the summer with my Grilled Mexican Chicken & Rice Foil Packets dinner. I have been using their product for years. Better Than Bouillon is a paste concentrate that is equivalent to one cup of broth or one bouillon cube. They have a wide variety different bases in a range of flavors. Here are most of the flavors they have.
- Better Than Bouillon Roasted Chicken Base
- Better Than Bouillon Roasted Beef Base
- Better Than Bouillon Roasted Turkey Base
- Better Than Bouillon Ham Base
- Better Than Bouillon Chili Base
- Better Than Bouillon Roasted Garlic Base
- Better Than Bouillon Seasoned Vegetable Base
- Better Than Bouillon Fish Base
- Better Than Bouillon Clam Base
- Better Than Bouillon Lobster Base
- Better Than Bouillon Mushroom Base
- Better Than Bouillon No Chicken Base
- Better Than Bouillon No Beef Base
These bases will help amplify your holiday meals to the next level. Before working with them I’ll be honest I had never seen the mushroom or even roasted garlic bases before. So if your like me, and haven’t been able to find some of the other flavors of Better Than Bouillon. I encourage you to use the product locator on the Better Than Bouillon website or you can even purchase online the hard to find flavors that your local grocery store might not carry.
How do you make Homemade Green Bean Casserole?
First, you will want to melt the butter on medium-high heat in the skillet. Then add in the green beans, diced white mushrooms, dried minced onions, water, salt, pepper, and the Better Than Bouillon Mushroom Base. Mix well. Place a lid on the skillet. Cooking on medium-high heat for 10 minutes until green beans are just slightly cooked.
While green beans cook. Mix together the cornstarch and water until fully combined. Set to the side.
Preheat the broiler on high.
Once the green beans are done cooking. Turn the heat off, and stir in the heavy cream. Then, stir in the corn starch slurry. Mix until thick.
Transfer to an oven proof dish. Pour the green beans in the dish. Top with the French Fried Onions. Broil on high for 1-2 minutes or until the onions are golden in color (but not burnt). Once the casserole is done, serve for all to enjoy!
