Make a decadent fruit-filled Strawberry Pineapple Milkshake with minimal ingredients and in 5 minutes time at home. Fresh strawberries with canned pineapple and vanilla ice cream all blended together make for a delicious milkshake in minutes.

Milkshake lovers rejoice. This five ingredient Strawberry Pineapple Milkshake is going to be your new favorite sweet treat. Don’t get me wrong I love my S’mores Milkshakes and the Cake Batter Milkshakes but this pineapple milkshake is where it’s at. This isn’t your normal decadent or even boozy milkshake. It’s a fresh and flavorful summer milkshake, and all you need is a few ingredients! I keep most of the ingredients on hand at all times, so I can whip it up on a whim.

Why this Recipe Works

Use a mix of fresh and canned produced–or all fresh or frozen depending on what you have on hand.

Make a healthier dessert using minimal ingredients.

Get the kids involved to make a delicious milkshake in minutes.

Ingredients

Ingredients on a marble countertop: vanilla ice cream, crushed pineapple, and strawberries.
  • Vanilla Ice Cream – This is key to a thick milkshake.
  • Milk – Not pictured but a good option if you don’t want a really thick milkshake. It will help break up all the ingredients in the blender making it blend quicker.
  • Strawberries – I prefer to use fresh strawberries for this recipe but frozen work. I also like to reserve a few fresh strawberries for garnish.
  • Crushed Pineapple – I always keep a can in my pantry at all times just so I can make this recipe.
  • Whipped Cream – You can make your own fresh whipped cream or you can use a can (like I do)!

Directions

Top view of fresh strawberries

In a blender combine the crushed pineapple, milk, strawberries, and vanilla ice cream until pureed about 30 seconds.

Blender with pink milkshake, empty glasses, and ice cream container with scoop.

Pour into two small glasses or one large glass. Top the strawberry milkshake with whipped cream and a fresh strawberry for garnish. Enjoy!

FAQs

How do you make a thick milkshake?

With this recipe I just add ice cream and the fruit. If you want a thick milkshake do not add ice. Ice will water down the milkshake making it less thick.

What can I add to my milkshake?

The sky is the limit. You can add cookies, brownies, cake, pie, sauces like caramel, chocolate, or even fudge. Want it boozy? Add Kahlua, a chocolate liqueur, vodka, brandy, bourbon or rum to your milkshake.

How do you make a milkshake without a blender?

Place all the ingredients into a large bowl. Use a spoon or a whisk to mix the ice cream and milk together. Then add in the fruit or other toppings and whisk until its to your desired consistency.

Can you mix pineapple and milk together?

You can mix pineapple and milk together; however, the acid from the pineapple could curdle the milk. It’s best to blend the milk with pineapple in the frozen state (i.e., ice cream).

Recipe Tips & Tricks

Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks when making a pineapple milkshake.

  • Frozen Fruit – Feel free to use all frozen fruit for this recipe; frozen strawberries and pineapples. You will want to thaw the fruit partially in the microwave or let sit out on the counter for 1 hour before blending. Just know you may need to add a little extra milk in order to thin out the milkshake so it isn’t too thick.
  • Thicker Milkshake – Want a thicker milkshake? Omit the milk from the blender.
  • Sonic Pineapple Milkshake – If you want to make a copycat version of the fast food chain, Sonic’s Pineapple Milkshake simply omit the strawberries and add in 2 tablespoons pineapple syrup to the blender along with a mix of fresh and canned or frozen pineapples.

Ice Cream Milkshake Recipes
