Fire up the grill and make my easy recipe for Grilled Sausage and Peppers in a half hours time. Plump Italian mild or medium sausage paired with sweet miniature bell peppers are sure to be a hit for an easy dinner or delicious barbecue.
My family loves to eat sausage for lunch or dinner. I love recreating classic recipes and cooking them with a twist. This recipe for Grilled Sausage and Peppers is perfect for entertaining or a simple but delicious quick meal! I will pair this with my white beans and fennel or place the grilled Italian sausage on buns and chop up the peppers for subs! My kids actually love beans. I almost always serve this dinner with my white beans dish, salad, and some bread to sop up that delicious white bean juice!
In this post you will learn the following information.
Ingredients
- Italian Sausage – You can use sweet or hot Italian Sausage for this recipe. You can also use chicken sausage for this recipe if you prefer that instead. Just note that with any chicken recipe make sure the internal temperature is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Sweet Mini Peppers – I love using the little sweet bell peppers vs large bell peppers. You can use either.
- Olive Oil – I coat the bell peppers in olive oil. I realize that olive oil is not the oil of choice for high heat cooking, but it’s what I use for this recipe.
- Salt & Pepper – I keep it simple and season the bell peppers with salt and peppers before grilling.

Tips & Tricks
Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks I’ve found helpful when making grilled sausage.
- Grilling Vegetables – Whenever I grill vegetables that are too small I use a grill pan. It makes life less stressful. Depending on the size of your mini bell peppers. You might want to consider using a grill pan to grill them.
- Seasoning – I keep the seasoning simple and only use salt and pepper. You could add a sprinkle of garlic powder. If you like things spicy you can use a dash of red pepper flakes prior to grilling.
- Non-Stick Spray – Whenever I’m grilling, I always use non-stick cooking spray on my grill grates. This prevents my food from sticking to the grill grates.
- Score – If you are concerned about the sausage bursting while cooking. You can make a few score lines on each link.
- Rotating – Rotate the sausage links and sweet peppers a few times during the cooking process to prevent burning.
