In my house, I try to make each and every holiday as fun and memorable as possible for my kids. I rarely let my children eat sugary cereal’s, so when they saw the Lucky Charms come in the house upon my arrival from the grocery store. Both children, jumped with excitement. When I told them it was to make Lucky Charms Snack Mix they got even more giddy with joy. The same week that we made this mix I also treated them to Lucky Charms Cereal Treats and St. Patrick’s Day Lucky Charms Pancakes.

Ingredients

Ingredients: popcorn, M&M, pretzels, lucky charms, white chocolate wafers, and mini marshmallows.
  • Lucky Charms Cereal – This is the heart of the mix and a must!
  • Pretzels – You can use any type of pretzels. I only had pretzel rods available so that’s what I used. But the mini pretzel twist work great, too!
  • Marshmallows – I used mini marshmallows but you could order these from Amazon to add more Lucky Charm’s Marshmallows.
  • M & M’s – I have yet to find St. Patrick’s Day colored M&M’s. You can head to your local M&M store or just pick out the green from a bag. I actually had leftover Christmas M&M’s so I just picked them out. Or I found green M&M”s in bulk on Amazon.
  • Popcorn – You can pop your own popcorn or buy a store bought.
  • White Chocolate Melts – I find that the already dyed white chocolate melts work best. You can find them at your local craft store or on Amazon.

Directions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scatter all the ingredients in order of ingredients list on the baking sheet except for the green white chocolate melts.
  2. Heat the green white chocolate melts per instructions. Drizzle on top of mix.
  3. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes or until chocolate hardens. Then transfer to an airtight container. Store for up to 7 days.

Lucky Charms Snack Mix: FAQs

How do you store a snack mix so it doesn’t go stale?

I like to store my snack mixes in a Ziploc baggie. The key to keeping the mix fresh is keeping the snack mix sealed in an airtight container.

Is Leprechaun Bait the same as Lucky Charms Snack Mix?

Yes, essentially the same concepts with similar snacks mixed together. The only difference is the name that each snack has been given.

What were the 4 original Lucky Charms?

Many might not know but Lucky Charms originally started with only 4 marshmallow pieces. Since then they have increased to 8 unique marshmallows. The 4 original were yellow moons, orange stars, pink hearts, and green clovers.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks I’ve found helpful when making Lucky Charms Trail Mix.

  • Sheet Pan – I love to spread all the ingredients on a sheet pan and let the chocolate harden before breaking it apart and placing in a bowl or in a bag.
  • Lucky Charms Marshmallows – If you want extra Lucky Charms Marshmallows you can actually just buy a bag of them on Amazon!
  • Additional Ingredients – Want to add other ingredients to your snack mix? Here are a few more ideas:
    • Peanuts – Salted, Honey Roasted, or even Dry Roasted. Any will do.
    • Chex – Chex cereal is another great addition to this mix.
    • Cheerios – For more of a cereal based mix you can add in some Cheerios.
    • Sprinkles – Green or even rainbow colored sprinkles.
